ART BY BEV PEDERSEN "Experimentation is not a form of art. It is a way of living." The ART BARN is the working studio of artist Beverly Pedersen. She relocated to this pastoral site in January 2003 pending the sale of her farm in Lakebay. Moving the contents of an artist workspace is never easy. Beverly has painted in oils, watercolors, acrylics and dyes on silk. Teaching art also doubles the load. Combine these necessary studio tools with a love of collage and mosaics and the loads can intimidate most friends willing to help with the move. Artist friends did commit to the task and now we all enjoy working and meeting at the "Art Barn". Beverly has limited her painting, teaching and participation in outdoor art shows because of serious health issues. Having this studio for friends to visit and work has allowed for rest while still be involved in the art community.
This location, just one block south of Key Center, is ideal for art classes. The Two Waters Arts Alliance also regularly schedules classes, which have included Chinese Brush Painting, Sumi Painting, Framing classes and life drawing classes among others. The Art Barn facility provides artists with a community atmosphere and needed artistic gathering space on the Key Peninsula. The discrete sign on the highway is a curiosity to travelers. This open studio tour welcomes the public to visit this artists’ destination. Beverly will be showing her Gicle reproductions, silk paintings and silk scarves.
