I started very traditional and over the years, the artist within pushed its way out; now my quilts are original to my minds eye. I recycle beautiful old clothing with Glitzy and I do embellishment with beads and what ever works. I have entered many quilt shows and won many ribbons.
I collect antique quilts and lecture to various groups on Women and Their Quits. Retirement gave me time to discover the artist within; I found the freedom to express my creative spirit in quilts.
My husband Jerry is the rock that keeps me steady he supports me and always makes sure I am ok. Together we have five children and twelve grandchildren.
- My life experience taught me three important lessons:
- “When things go wrong do not go with them”
- “Nothing is worth the energy lost in conflict.”
- “There is magic in giving”
Gig Harbor’s 2010 Studio Tour is a great honor, what a thrill it will be to share my quilts with so many. Thank you, Delaine Gately Quilt-a-holic
