Using the traditional tools of sumi-e - rice paper, brushes, watercolor, and ink sticks ground by hand before each use - I have tried to capture the essence of nature and of everyday objects.
I continue to be intrigued by shells, flowers, fruits and vegetables, their shape, color, and the light.
I have been doing monotypes and using them as the background for paintings and collages.
I've tried to convey a sense of light and a certain mystery to the "still lifes" I see around me.
